This Urdu novel Aagay Samunder Hai was published in 1998. In English translation, the name of Urdu novel آگے سمندر ہے would be There is sea ahead. Jawad Hassan, Maimuna, Majboor are three main characters and other historical and cultural figures including Qurtuba (Córdoba), Gharnata (Granada), and Sham (Damascus).

It was a time when Pakistan and India got independence from British in 1947, protagonist named Jawad Hassan had to leave India and migrated into Pakistan. But he left behind his ancestral home and fiancée, Maimuna in India. Majboor, brother of Jawad supported him after migration because it was new place for him. 

Reading this novel would take back Urdu readers back into the past of 1947 era. The new and old generation both would be reading with interest about the old traditions at the time of independence.
