Australian
Edith Cowan University's researchers working on software that would enable
police patrolling cars to detect drunk drivers while driving with the help of dash
cam camera.
While
conducting experiment, they have tested this new technology on 60 participants.
This new video camera software identified drunk driver volunteers by scanning
the faces. The three levels of lower, middle and higher intoxication was
analyzed by machine learning algorithms during the trial.
Although
they had not achieved 100 percent results in the initial stage against 75
percent during their first experiment but researchers determined to continue
and if their desired success rate achieved, new technology would help to
decrease road accidents, would warn the drivers on time, and in addition, the
new software could also be integrated into smart phones according to
experimentalists in future.
