Nine-year old Karl was living in home with her mother who was doing part time job at old age caring home apart from doing zoo keeper. Sometimes, she had to visit nursing home in weekends when they asked her to come. At old age caring home, she had to look after elderly people. Sometimes in weekends she had to bring along with her in old age caring home Karl and his friends where they spend good time playing around. Karl used to play chess game with elderly people and watching TV with them when rained outside. At nursing home, there was elderly woman lived in a separate room, her actually name was Elizabeth but Karl's mother named her Lizzie because she slept too much but fond of reading books and Agatha Christie was her favorite author.

As a zoo keeper, Karl's mother had to look after animals and in animals there was an orphaned elephant named Marlene whom she adores so much. One day war broke out, so people around neighborhood started leaving fleeing their homes to find safe shelter. Karl and her mother couldn't leave elephant behind in the garden, but thinking strategy how they would go out with Marlene, but they were not alone, and the angel came to their help, his name was Peter, who was from Canada and navigating.
