But to lure English professor in love with her, Rachel had to devise a plan and sought a help from her second boyfriend James Devlin whom she thought him as gay when met first at the O'Connor bookshop store. In those days, Rachel was found of reading old novels for pleasure but she had to accumulate notes from other literature for her essays submission at university level assignments. James was a talk show writer, was in intimate relationship with Rachel when she became her roommate and later pregnant.

Rachel was from middle class family, her father was a dentist and her mom assisted his father. Before falling in romantic love with James, the name of first boyfriend was Jonathan, and it happened when she was studying in college. Rachel was an art student. During her studies, when paying college tuition fees gets difficult for his father she then also had to worked as babysitter.
